Weekend Withdrawals

(Sorry this is long and more like an unproofread journal entry. But the last paragraph is the best)

Although it is Friday our weekend didn't really end until Wednesday, and now we are coping with our withdrawals from all the fun. Last Friday night my sister Jenni came to town for the weekend, then my mom came into town Saturday evening. It was quite a fun girls weekend with shopping, crafting, talking and lots of good food.

Chloe, Jenni and I started shopping Saturday and later we left Chloe with her Daddy and picked up Nana to continue the shopping. What fun we had. Sunday we went to some church and then Chloe and Mike took Sunday naps while us girls did some quilting. We managed to make almost 2 quilts for Jenni. That night was the Super Bowl and Jenni was scheduled to fly out right in the middle of the game. So the girls did the airport run while Mike watched the game in complete solitude. He was in heaven. (you can read the posting below for the complete airport story) We returned home to watch the last 9 minutes of the game and I must say this was one of the better Super Bowl games in quite a few years. It was actually a game and not a blow out. Mike's depression has begun but we will hear the whinning start this weekend when there is no football on TV (the Probowl doesn't count in his world). We expect it to last until August. Fortunately we have March Madness to distract him for a little while.

Monday we did some more shopping at the outlet mall and then to Nana's only request, Wegman's. Unfortuntely we only had a few minutes there before running back to the airport. That will just have to be the first thing we do next time she visits. She did get her chocolate dipped cookies so she will survive for now. We all relaxed for the afternoon and when Mike got home from work we went out to dinner. That was a treat but Chloe was less than cooperative. She is in such a squirmy, independent stage that makes sitting still very difficult.

Tuesday morning Jenni finally made it out of BWI and Chloe, Nana and I went to Penn. to do some tax free shopping. Chloe made a good impression on Nana for being such a good shopper with her carseat naps and willingness to go from store to store with only a little resistance. Nana spoiled us which we are so grateful for (thanks again Mom). That night she made Mike and I go out on a date while she babysat. Chloe was a little confused and was a bit of a pickle going to bed but Nana is a trained professional and handled everything beautifuly. For our date we splurged and went to the Melting pot for dinner and had a delicious time. My one complaint is the dessert was a little sparce. Don't they know you need more than a 1/2" x 1/2" brownie piece? I mean come on now let's give it up. Other than that it was a very nice evening and the weather was so nice we didn't even have to wear coats. I love 60 degrees in February, don't you?

Wednesday we just stayed home. We made Chloe a new quilt, did laundry, cleaned a bit and let Chloe take naps in her own crib. It was so nice and I felt like I got things done this week. Thanks to my mom I cleaned out my drawers in my bedroom, got two bags full of things to donate to the bishop's storehouse, and my guest bedroom is ready for the next guest to visit. So who will it be?

We loved having so much fun this weekend but on Thursday I was just not in the mood to go anywhere. Chloe on the other hand was disappointed we didn't leave the house. Before her afternoon nap she asked me for "buh-bye's" meaning she wanted to go somewhere. I said "no honey, we are not going anywhere." To which she said "Costco? Costco?" When the answer no came out of my mouth she just started to cry. Oh, I have created a monster.

I knew I loved that girl! What a smart girl. I would like to think I have played a small part in creating such a shopping monster! We miss you guys!
