Phase 2: The Work

Well it seems I can only get a few pictures off my card right now. So I will give you some of the work in progress pictures. We are back to a functioning kitchen, which I am so grateful for! Try having no sink, dishwasher, stove and oh yeah, our microwave blew up two days before we started this. We were good though. Mike only had the stove out of commission for a few hours on Saturday so we got some take-out for lunch and then dinner was made at home. We lived without a microwave until yesterday when Chloe and I ran to Lowe's for a new one (It was cheaper than Costco and Sam's, go figure). It is still sitting in the box in the dinning room, maybe I can find some time today to get it out.

Without further ado, the photos...

This is our collection of spoons, forks, knives and a couple of fondue skewers on the only functioning counter we had. As you will see below it got a little crowded.
I have missed my drawer and thankfully we now have them all IN a drawer again.

Here's our Demo Girl. She loved having access to the cabinets, but was disappointed to find them empty.

The sub-floor under the old flooring. YUCK!

Mike replaced it nicely and now the tile will lay flat the way it should.

The floor is installed.
Chloe's favorite tool is the measuring tape,
so when she is around it is "her tool" and not daddy's.

Chloe the plumber
She fit so much better in this cabinet than Mike did.

The set up of the cabinets. Just need to do some drilling to make the plumbing fit.

Peanut Gallery. Dad is so much fun to watch.

Displaced dishwasher

Here I am airing my dirty dishes. But this is what the functioning part of our kitchen looked like this weekend. The basket served as our sink holder. We had to take the dishes downstairs to actually wash them. And that was all the counter space we had to work with, 12 inches deep and very cluttered from all the work and living. Funny story...Saturday Mike went down and washed some dishes and brought them back up when he was done. I thought it was so sweet of him, but I did ask if he used soap. He scoffed and said "Yes, I used soap." Well, I went down to do the dishes on Sunday and couldn't find the dish soap. Mike was down there with me at the time so I asked him where it was. He didn't know. So I asked him what he used to wash the dishes the day before. He said "soap." I looked at the sink and found the Softsoap dispenser there. The one he uses to wash his dirty, dingy, gross hands after working on projects. I was throughly disgusted and he just laughed and said "I said I used soap." Boys! Needless to say we all are so happy to have our dishwasher running again.

I will post the after pictures later, when I can download the camera.

Um I wasn't kidding when I said I was cyber stalking you. So glad to see some pics, I know, I know, I need to get mine up too, but cameras don't always function as they should. Wait, the computer is the one not functioning! Needless to say it looks like the project went well. Can't wait to see the finished product! Missing you more than you'll ever know! Mind

What? No finished product photos? You keep us in suspense! Can you mail Chloe to me? I think she needs to visit.
