Stick a needle in your eye

Yesterday started with quite a laugh and ended with a good cry. Mike went to work early so Chloe and I were just going through our morning doing our normal thing. I took her upstairs to get her ready for her bath. I stripped her down and I let her go while I started the bath. She went into our bedroom to climb on our bed, normal. As I walked in to get her off the bed I found her standing there, luckily on the floor, PEEING!! Chloe hasn't done anything like that since she was a tiny infant. It was the funniest thing to see and I laughed out loud. The bath was started so I plucked her off the rug and plopped her in the warm water. I'm so grateful we don't have carpet because the clean up was a breeze, drop the cheap rug in the washer and wipe down the floor. Wow am I glad she wasn't on the bed, but not as happy as Mike is because she was playing on his side of the bed ;)

Last night was a big night for all of us, especially Chloe. It was a night I have been looking forward to for about a year now. Chloe had her clog tear duct poked. Now I know what you are thinking, what kind of parent wants their child to undergo a procedure and looks forward to it? Basically she has had a perma tear running down her cheek or goopy green gunk stuck to her eyelashes since she was about 2 months old. Our Ped wouldn't refer us to an Opthomologist until she was a year old due to the anesthesia needed for the procedure. But as we found this can be done without drugs in the office so we opted for that option. How it works, the doctor pokes a flexible wire in her duct while two very nice assistants hold her down. There is no danger to her eye sight as the wire doesn't go anywhere near her eye. They wouldn't let us stay in the room but we could hear her crying from the waiting room. It was an agonizing 10 minutes where we paced, tried to block out Beauty and the Beast, read all the posters, looked at kids glasses, and of course leaned on each other for the support we needed. When they brought her out to us she had blood in her eye, which is normal, but she was calm. I tired to take her from the assistant but Chloe wouldn't come to me. She might have been harboring a little anger towards her parents for letting her go into a situation like that. Finally I took her and just hugged that darling little baby of ours.

She drank a bottle of milk in about 3 minutes and continued to cry on and off. We were the last ones in the office and headed home about 7pm. Poor Chloe hadn't eaten anything since lunch and all she asked for were her goldfish crackers (by clicking her tongue). Because of her traumatic experience we let her eat what ever she wanted for dinner, a banana, goldfish, roll with yummy raspberry jam (thanks Mindy!), and some juice. She got to stay up late and play until she got too whiny. The good thing is she had a good night only waking up because she kicked off her blankets and she was cold.

This morning she woke up with a little blood scab in the corner of her eye but everything looks good. We are crossing our fingers this worked and we don't have to do it again. If it failed we have to go to the hospital to do it under anesthesia.

Pictures to follow...

I hope everything turns out well, so you don't have to do a surgery. We have that to look forward to in a year. :)

I had no idea that such a tramatic thing happened this week! Poor little Chloe. What a little angel baby. I am talking about the eye thing, not the peeing thing.
