New House: Before pictures

I am finally able to share the pictures of the house with all of you that care to see. I will have to do it in two parts as there are quite a few pictures to share. Let's start with the before. These are the pictures of the house the first time we saw it with our agent. We were not very impressed, but a second trip through the house sold us on it's potential and we couldn't be any happier. Well, Mike would really love a garage and for it to not be such a money pit. The lovely price you pay for home ownership! We love the street and the neighborhood. Our neighbors have been so friendly and helpful. Our next door neighbor mowed our front lawn for a few weeks before we got a little more settled.

This is our cute little house.
It is about double the square footage of our townhouse in Baltimore, but we sure did fill it up quickly!

Our back yard. Long and flat, perfect for soccer as Mike put it.
They left us the swing set and Chloe loves to be out swinging whenever possible.

Good shade from this tree. We have enjoyed many picnics already under this tree.
The views are a little blocked now that the vegetation has grown in, but we have some lovely views of the canyon.

The living room. Notice the popcorn ceilings in all the pictures and the dirty carpet through out the entire upstairs.

This is looking back towards the front door, from the dinning room.
Great windows, but boy do they cook the house. Looking forward to replacing them one day.
I think the roof is going to have to come first, unfortunately.

The dinning room. Love the light fixture that went promptly to the garbage.
Under the pink carpet, yuck, we found some great linoleum with gold glitter to match the ceilings.

The "updated" kitchen. Not my first choice, but it is more livable than some we saw.

Hallway. I had to put this one in so you could see how dirty the carpet was. The good thing is the sale price came with a carpet allowance!

The hallway bath. Not great, but also not high on the priority list right now. Again, livable, but one day it will be updated to our liking.

Chloe's room. She LOVED the pink carpet, but we compromised with her and painted her walls pink instead. Whew!

The nursery. Nothing exciting, but it is much cuter now.

The master bedroom. It looks just like the one before, but I promise it is a bit bigger and has his and her closets!

A master bath!! It is small, ugly and outdated, but hey we have one, right?!

Our rockin' basement! Oh how ugly this pink carpet is!
The lava rock fireplace is pretty sweet, but I'm afraid it is not part of the final plan.

The unfinished space in the basement. One day this will be a bedroom.

The potential basement bathroom. We really wish we could move this one up on the list of "to-do's" as a matter of convenience, but alas the roof need to be replaced.

There are two other parts I failed to show. Our great storage room with built in storage, love it! And Mike's office. But the office is currently under construction and deserves it's very own post. So that will come in the future. It has a week to get done, but we are not holding our breath.
