Well the day started with Chloe having a cold. It's so sad to hear the little hoarseness in her voice and constantly wiping that nose proves to be a mighty chore. But we decided to head out to the Super Wal-Mart with our friends the Cherry's anyway. Serena shared her cookies with us and we had fun running through the aisles, really I had fun running after Chloe as she ran away from me. I got my workout and Chloe and Lane had some good fun wearing out Chloe for her nap. By the time we checked out, I was DONE! So we took off and loaded up the car and headed home. The problem was we only made it about 6 parking spaces before I stopped. The car sounded like a fog horn and I knew instantly what the problem was.
Our muffler had fallen off!! All I could do was laugh and call to Serena across the parking lot. I called Mike and he told me to take it off. TAKE IT OFF?!?!? Then I looked and yes, take it off, was the solution. He was kind enough to tell me there were some gloves in the back of the car. So here I am at Wal-Mart with my muffler. Thanks to Serena for laughing with me and taking this picture. The back window was open on the way home and I guess the loud noise lulled Chloe to sleep.

Well, what a fun birthday surprise for you! Let me guess what you're getting for you birthday! I'm sure a new muffler is just what you wanted! Happy Birthday! We love ya.
For a split second, I thought you might be driving the old wagoneer. I sure miss that racing stripe.
Ha! Happy Birthday! What a fun way to spend it! I think next year, you deserve to go the spa route instead of automotive adventures.
Don't you just LOVE car adventures? Enjoy that new birthday muffler...
Ha-Lar-Ious! I love it. Glad you can laugh about it! Hope to be catching up on your blog shortly!
Happy belated B-Day!
Oh my gosh its good that you can laugh at days like that but your birthday, I'm so sorry. So do you feel older?
First, happy belated birthday!
Second, how hilarious! Car-falling-apart-stories are some of my favorites! A couple years ago, when we still had music class in the ward, I went over a speed bump just before parking, and heard something fall off of the car. We were running late, so I went ahead and took the kids out, dropped them off and dashed back outside (in the rain) to grab whatever it was that was laying in the road. I didn't even recognize it! But Jesse told me we'd be fine to drive home, and we were. It wasn't too long after that when our muffler became useless, too. It very nearly rusted all the way through, and it was barely hanging on. The UPS guy sure got a laugh when we had a whole muffler system delivered to our door! It was only wrapped in bubble wrap in a few very small places along the very large pipes. Someday when we can afford newer cars, we'll probably miss crazy stories like this!
