Memorial Day Weekend

Jenni came to town for the weekend to see us and because Reid was racing in the Baltimore Bike Fest. She arrived Saturday morning and from there she and I went to the bike race. I have to admit most of my family is into the whole cycling scene and I haven't ever really picked up on it. But after this race, I was hooked. It was a critiriem (the racers did 40 laps around the course) race that suited me just fine. Reid hooked us up with some VIP passes (his team's main sponsor was sponsoring the race) so we could eat and stand right up to the finish line. I have to admit that this probably made the race for me. We didn't have to stand in a crowd and they had Diet Coke. But it was so cool when the peleton (the big group of cyclist) rode past us. I didn't expect the noise from the pedals, the swooshing wind they produce, and you can hear the riders talking to one another. I could go on and on, but I won't. I will just say it was very cool and way to go Kelly/Med-Fast boys in pulling off the win at the very last second. It was a spectacular win! Reid was kind of the home town boy riding in the race due to his residency being listed as Baltimore. He was quoted in the Baltimore Sun the following day. Read it here.

Sunday we took it easy and after dinner we went up to Loch Raven Reservoir to feed the ducks, I mean geese, all our old bread. What fun we had.

Monday we girls did some shopping and baby registry while Mike did some work on the house. After nap time we all headed down to the National Zoo in DC. Chloe sure got a kick out of seeing all the animals and we got there just as the holiday crowds were starting to thin out. We didn't get to see everything but we had a great time. Jenni bought us all a nice frozen drink before we went in and Chloe is now hooked. She thought my strawberry drink or daddy's chocolate drink were hers. Oh we are in trouble.

Thanks for playing with us Jen! We had so much fun seeing you (and Reid for a little while) and playing all weekend. We miss you!

Man, sounds like fun! You have to watch those girls with the good treats! Emily has claimed my ice cream cone twice. The kid is fierce when it comes to food!
