Last night we decided to hike to Donut Falls up Big Cottonwood canyon before the cold front sets in and winter arrives tonight. It was a lovely evening, but we got a little bit of a late start. We forgot to take into account that the sun sets earlier now. Despite that, it was a busy night on the trail. Many groups had the same idea; to see the fall colors one last time before the trail has snow on it. Chloe was happy to run up the trail and Ryan rode happily in the Bjorn. The smell of the mountains and the colors of all the trees were refreshing. When we arrived at the falls there were two other families in front of us and dusk was in full swing. We took a couple of dark pictures and then decided to head down pretty quick. I had carried Ryan up in the carrier and to get down quickly I decided to carry him down too. Mike was left to guide Chloe down and he ended up carrying her most of the way. The two of us really got our exercise last night (which we both need).
We got to the car and gave Chloe her promised snack as she was buckled into her car seat. Ryan woke up from his little hike nap as I put him in his car seat. Mike and I got into the car and realized how tired we were from the short hike.
Me sinking into my seat: I'm really pooped!
Chloe from the backseat: YOU REALLY NEED TO GET POTTY TRAINED!
Mike and I laughed ourselves silly. Can you tell what the topic of conversation has been at our house lately? (She is doing great with all the potty stuff!)
We are sad to see summer go, especially so fast. Our low tonight will be 48 and our high tomorrow is going to be 49. Bbbrrrrrrrr, winter! Hopefully things will warm up for a little while and we can have an enjoyable, long autumn.

sounds like a great evening! I miss the Cottonwoods, especially this time of year. Glad you guys got up there. And nice work on the potty training. Good thing she's keeping mom & dad on task as well.
Ah, Donut Falls. How lovely. Good idea, going on that hike - we just took our first long family walk with the girls in the stroller ourselves the other night. It was just nice to be OUT OF THE HOUSE, TOGETHER. Y'know? You know. :) Chloe continues to make me laugh from afar - keep those quotes coming! :)
How fun! I can't believe how LONG Chloe's hair is getting! My goodness, what a little lady...she is so funny! It is amazing how fast they seem to grow up when they aren't in your family! Anyway, have a wonderful fall day!
I love Chloe's pigtails! And I love all her comments. They remind me of Maddie; like the other day when I was pretending I was a puppy and sniffing her little face, she laughs and says "Rwe you a dog ohr someting?" I love the things that come out of their mouths! And my sister told me of the "typical" SLC weather: 91, then down to cold. Hope you guys don't get sick with the temperature change!
We just gave our computer kisses to kiss those kids. So sorry we missed you over our quick weekend. Maybe one day I'll get to update my blog again. We'll work on that this weekend. We miss you. Glad you don't really haveto potty train again!
