WE MADE IT!

We finally made it and everything is here. Last night, with the help of many (12 or 13, I can't remember now) friends and family, our truck was unloaded into a storage unit in a little over an hour. I feel bad that I didn't help much. I was more the cruise director of unpacking and repacking, and I didn't even do a good job. Poor Chloe's clothes were packed into the storage unit somewhere in the puzzle of boxes and furniture. Luckily my sister just gave me a bag of hand-me-downs and Black Friday is right around the corner. A shopping I will go!

We had a lovely drive across the country. We took I-70 the whole way and again, Kansas sucked! At least we are not living there. One funny story though. As we were driving through Kansas City (on the MO side) we were looking for a Subway to eat dinner. We found an exit but missed it so we kept looking. The very next exit had another one so we made our way over and got off the freeway. As we drove to the gas station we noticed a big stadium with its lights on. It was where the Kansas City Royals play baseball. And as Mike and I both know, Arrowhead Stadium is right next door. For those of you who don't know, Mike is a big Chiefs fan. So it was very fitting that we would eat dinner across the street from Arrowhead Stadium while in KC. Too bad the lights were off.

Other than that our trip was uneventful. The car did fine, which we were very grateful for. We stayed in hotels with pools and went swimming every morning for Chloe's sake. She loved it because she is such a fish! She was very well behaved for being subjected to her car seat almost 10 hours a day. She never gave us any problems getting in when it was time to go (Miracle!). Plus we had some great little surprises for along the way. Thanks to those who supported that effort!

We ate too much fast food and finally stopped at the Cheesecake Factory in St. Louis to see an old friend one last time. Let me tell you how good real food tastes after those other places. SO GOOD! We saw the St. Louis Arch and enjoyed a little time seeing something on our trek across this great country.

We are adjusting to our transitional life and our new surroundings. I'm NOT so happy about how Utah has treated us so far. The drivers are rude and awful! And the random people in Wal-Mart parking lots spouting their opinions about your parenting are the worst I have ever met. But those are stories for another post, so I won't cry again.

We miss our old life and our Maryland friends. You guys are the best. Thanks for your sweet posts about us abandoning you. Please come with us. We need more numbers here! We are happy to see family again and are so excited about spending Thanksgiving here. Our old friends are welcoming us back with open arms after we abandoned them for 4 1/2 years.

Pictures and more stories to come. We are still getting settled.

Happy Thanksgiving!

glad you made it safely (and that you beat the Thanksgiving traffic crush). Have a great holiday. Do you already have a place to live? Or just beginning the hunt? Hope to see you all soon. Not sure when we'll get down there to visit, but I'm sure we will.... That Kansas stretch is a looooonng one. And then it just keeps on going into eastern Colorado, which isn't -- trutfully -- any different.

Wahoo welcome back!! I have to agree with you on the rude drivers and the mean shoppers. Doug and I had a run in with a lady in Costco today. It wasn't a pretty sight. People here need to relax a bit and quit being so dang competitive we all need to simplify so we aren't so on edge all the time. Geez don't gedt me started!
