Chloe and I made a quick trip to the grocery store one day for some cheese and Coke because we need cheese for dinner and the Coke was on sale. We found two blocks of cheese and two six packs of Coke. Chloe was happy to hold the cheese during her ride because it is her favorite food groups. Anything to keep her in the basket so I can quickly navigate the store without pulling her away from every eye catching item at her level.
It was noon so the store was busy with lunch time shoppers. There were only a couple of check out lanes open and quite a few people in each line. I was playing the "which line will be the fastest and trying to stake my ground in no mans land but I might be in this line" game. You know what I mean. We all want to get to the front of the line first. And some of the cashiers at this time of day are soooooo slow. Not good when you are in a hurry and just trying to pop into the store for honestly less than 10 items. The 10 Items or less Express lane was 6 people deep and Casheir Chatty Cathy was there (she drives me nuts-to much talking, not enough scanning). So I was standing in a regular lane with 3 people with more than 10 item orders hoping that my line would be the faster choice. Then they started calling up more cashiers over the PA and an employee started shuffling us all around. She took me and a couple of other small orders over to an opening check stand. When I reached into the basket to put our groceries on the belt, that is when I first saw what was going on in my basket. I guess I get observant mom of the year for paying attention to what my quiet child is doing in the shopping cart.Yup, that's right. It was lunch time and she was hungry. Mom gave her some cheese so she just thought she would start eating it any way she could. Luckily she made a bite flap with the plastic wrapper and just ate the cheese.
Here are some more pictures of the little mouse. I almost took these pictures in the store, but then I got embarrassed and took them in the parking lot.

Haha! That's so cute!
I like her Halloween costume too.
When I read the title and then started to read on...I thought you were going to say that Chloe was playing with a mouse in the cart - I'm so glad that wasn't the case. She was hungry, can you blame the girl...come on, mom!! Too funny about chatty cathy - I can actually picture you standing there in that grocery store...thanks for bringing a smile to my face - Chloe is so stinkin cute!!
I laughed out loud! Never trust a quiet kid!
What kind of a mom doesn't give a kid a drink of coke with their cheese. Plain rude if you ask me. Don't tease the poor child by just letting her hold it! Obviously it's your first. I give mine a coke for breakfast. lol
Holy hanna, that's a huge chunk of cheese! That's hilarious. Oh, Chloe, how you make us laugh.
I really did get to the cashier once and then we both realized that a package of rolls I'd picked up really *had* been chewed through by, presumably, a small furry creature. *shudder*
And what a cute mouse she is! How did she get into that package?
We can't leave the cheese out on the counter or Megan does the same thing with it. I have had several blocks of cheese with "mouse" bites out of them.
