STORYVILLE

I have mentioned Storyville in previous posts and now I have some time to explain. It is Chloe's favorite place on earth (besides with her Daddy). Literally! She will find a purse, put it on her shoulder, go to the front door and with her hand on the door knob she will say "Bye! I'm going to Storyville now. I'm going to take mommy's car, by myself." She cracks us up, daily.

So what is Storyville? It is a local library branch with a separate place for little kids to play. It is designed for infants to preschool age children to learn to love literacy through p
lay. It is a little village that is built on the level of a 4 year old, with books in every section that you can check out. There is a grocery store complete with cash registers, food and shopping baskets, a theater with puppet show stage and full stage to recreate "The Three Bears," a little library, a two story house complete with a garden for digging out back, washer with laundry, a fully stocked kitchen, an up stairs area with dress ups and a doll house. There is a construction site which is a house of 2x4's with things like legos for building and upstairs there is a firehouse doll house. If none of this makes any sense just check them out here. If you live in the area and have not been there yet...GO! Your kids will love it and so will you. I just hope we can find another great library to take Storyville's place once we move (no progress, *bitter feelings*).

Here are the pictures to prove how much Chloe loves Storyville.

Here she is holding probably her favorite library book ever.
Dig, Dig, Digging by Margaret Mayo

Chloe's version of the puppet show "The Three Pigs"

Grocery shopping. Buying her favorite, tomatoes.

Riding in the boat in the Chesapeake Bay area (this one is a little less polluted).

Growing some onions. How she loves to make onions for dinner, remember this?

In the kitchen with Maddie, Chloe's darling friend who introduced us to Storyville.

Kitchen sink on her level

Making a phone call, probably to her Daddy.
Did I mention he is her favorite?

So there you have it, Storyville. It will be sorely missed, but we are making weekly visits to get our fill before we move, whenever that will be!?!

What a fun looking place! We still need to go. Is Lane too old?

Have you been to Discovery? It's at Gateway. It's the new childrens museum here, lots of the same stuff, just WAY more crowded... and it isn't free. If you do find a library like that here though let me know.

love the pics of Storyville...it looks a lot like the Treehouse Museum in Ogden. When the kids were younger (like their ancient now, ha) and we had more free time we spent lots of time there, especially on Thursdays for Theatre Thursday - the kids get to act on a stage and do little skits...so fun. You'll have to visit us up here and we'll go play!

I don't blame her. This is part of your library? That is so cool. She will have to get her fix at Discovery Gateway when you move here. Can't wait to see you guys.

How cute! How could you not love it. I wish we had something like that here for the little ones. The best part is that its free! You better get your fill!

Davis family, I hope you don't mind, I've been blog surfing and found yours.
Chloe is a doll and things sound really good. I want a Storyville to take my kids to! I guess the Children's Museum will have to do (until it shuts down.)
It's been fun to read about what you've been up to.
