This past Labor day weekend we took a little day trip to Philly. We had a great day, despite the end of summer heat wave. Since Mike and I visited Philadelphia 4 years ago (the second weekend we lived here) we decided to see some things we missed on our last trip.

Then we headed over to the famous Philadelphia Museum of Art,you know the one where Rocky runs up the steps. Yeah, that one.
They even have some very impressive steps inside.
Here we are on said steps.A bit bright but with out the flash you wouldn't see us at all.
Grandma Lia, we made sure to visit the Dutch Tiles. It was fun to see a whole wall mural of Dutch tiles.

And the Ballerina.
Mike and I saw another one in Paris 2 years ago.
You could get up close and personal with this one in Philadelphia.
But as you can see from the smaller photo, the one in Paris has been preserved better by being behind glass.
We had a later than normal nap time for this day trip, so Chloe wasn't that excited about seeing the Rocky statue. Mike was a good sport and let me take his picture though.
If you want you can even get some Rocky Water Ice. Pretty cleaver, eh.
This was the best water ice for us.
Playing in front of the Washington Monument.Fitting, since that is Chloe's favorite thing to say every time we visit DC lately.
Chloe's Philly treat. She got to choose it before we leftand she was happy to consume it before her 30 minute car nap on the way to...
Last time we visited we had Geno's and both Mike and I agreed, Pat's was better.
I don't mean to start up any wars over this, because I know it can be a heated debate.
The camera battery died after this photo, so that is where the picture journey ends. We finished up with a walk down by the boats. It was a great day and I am so glad we did it before we head West. Still no progress with the house, but it will happen when it happens. So I'm not going to get crazy about what I can't control.

Looks like so much fun. I love all the pictures I would love to go visit those places. Great attitude about the house it can drive you crazy if you let it. It will happen.
nice work! we LOVED our time in Philly -- great city. And I'm with you on Pat's vs. Geno's. Pat's clearly wins.
By the way -- I'm in DC this week (until tomorrow afternoon). If you guys just happen to be in DC at all Wed. or Thu., let me know, I'd love to see you. I don't have a car, or else I'd consider coming up to Baltimore to visit.
Glad you had a good time in Philly. We miss Water Ice.
Hey, Jodi! It was fun to hear from you. Thought I'd "stop in" too. :) Looks like you guys had a great time in Philly! I haven't been there since I was 11. Wish I'd made it back before leaving NYC. Anyway, stop by my blog anytime. If you don't mind, I'll do the same!
And that daughter of yours sure is cutie!!
I am so jealous you get to see so much of the east coast. When my brother was in dental school in Ohio they were always taking fun little trips to different states. Its amazing how close everything is. We miss you guys.
Thanks for the tour of Philadelphia- I visited once. I arrived late in the evening on September 10, 2001. Needless to say, I saw nothing, everything was closed. In fact, I couldn't even get a cheese steak, so I'll have to take your word on which restaurant was better. Good luck with the house...
Yeah!! I love Philly but can you believe I've never been to the Rocky Steps? What a travesty. I love Degas' ballerina, and I have to say that Jim's Steaks is our favorite, although we've never tried Pat's (but have tried Geno's and were not really fans.) Anyway, what a fun day!
