San Diego 2007: Sea World

Wednesday was our big day of "Let's all do something together", so off we went to Sea World (minus Jon who had to fly back to SLC for school. Silly college getting in the way of family vacation. He came back 2 days later at 2 am!).

This is the funny part of Sea World, or so some of my family members thought. As we were in the parking lot loading up strollers and slathering on sunscreen we had the pleasure of listening to the Atlantis ride (very annoying) as every new set of riders approached the big fall. So of course since no one is pregnant, our two car loads decided we had to start there. The first trick was to get JC (4 yrs old and just shy of 42") on the ride. Jori and Branden are pros at this from Disneyland 7 months ago. They stuffed the lining of one of Kaelynn's diaper under the sole of his shoe and taught him how to stand up "straight and tall." Well it worked and the first round of riders were off while Mike and I watched the two babies. Kaelynn decided to steal cookies from Chloe's stroller which was very funny.

Jenni and Raygen were in the front, Branden and JC in the middle, and with Jori and Reid in the back seat. They all had a great ride and came running out to switch with us. Jori and Raygen stayed behind and brave little JC said he loved it and wanted to go again.

Me being a front row lover, had to have the front seat. I figured everyone was on their second ride and they could enjoy it from one of the other seats. Little did I know this was the plan all along. As you might not see from the photos we are dry going down and completely soaked after plunging to the depths of Atlantis (thus Mike covering me). All in all there were two big splashes and EVERYONE was soaked due to the two huge adults sitting in the front row. Mike and I didn't have a dry inch on either of us. The others were soaked as well but not quite as bad as the front row. Plus I was the smarty pants who wore a white tight t-shirt!

Thankfully, Jori came to my rescue. As I was searching out the nearest gift shop with over priced, tacky souvenir t-shirts, she offered a dry back-up T-shirt she had packed in her stroller of goodies. A silly souvenir shirt from DC and her previous trip to visit us, but a nice, gray, dry shirt all the same. Mike's favorite part was I changed right there at the ride with just a towel held up for a tiny bit of privacy. I did not care who saw the post pregnancy bare skin belly at that point because it was no different with the shirt on or off.

We then went to see the Shamu show, which in my opinion was very cheezy! But we saw lots of other things. Chloe got to touch a sea star and Mike got to touch a sea cucumber. We loved seeing the penguins and turtles. But in th end Chloe was pooped and finally fell asleep in her stroller as we were on our way to the car. I'm sure if she were older she would have appreciated it more but we had fun with her none the less.
