When I was little and maybe even a little bit older, I slept with the same lovey type blanket every night. Well as it happens there might have been an evolution of blankets. I loved sleeping with these blankets (one or two at a time) around my head, like a hat. When I sucked my thumb, as a child of course, I would use my first two fingers to hold the blanket. Kind of Linus style, but above my head. When I did this I loved to find the cold parts of the blanket and then I would move my fingers when it got warm. Kind of the way you eat corn on the cob. Does that make sense?
So as a child I started loving cold blankets and my older sister Jami had the same love of cold blankets too. She taught me to put my blankets in the freezer just before bed and that was the best way to get them freezing cold. The fridge worked too, but not as well. My biggest pet peeve as a child was how quickly my blankets came to room temperature.
A few weeks ago I noticed Chloe asking for her blanket to be cold. While she doesn't suck her thumb, thank heavens she was a binkie girl, she does have an attachment to a certain butterfly blanket and lovey. I thought it was just a one time thing. But more and more she has asked, screamed, yelled, cried if her blanket is warm. This "issue" came up last night as Mike pulled butterfly out of the dryer and promptly put her, yes the blanket is a she, into the fridge to get her cold. He did this with out being asked by Chloe, knowing it would be an issue if he took the blanket to her warm from the dryer. Crazy, I know. Then he came into our room where I was feeding the baby and jokingly blamed me for it (he knows my past). I honestly did not teach her ANY of it! I promise Mike!! (I couldn't stop laughing when he was blaming me for it, making me look guilty, but I promise I am innocent.) But she has a need for cold blanket which leads me to believe it is genetic. So today when she got up from her nap and started crying about her blanket being warm and blaming her little brother for it (he was in her bed with her when she was waking up), I took her to the freezer and taught her how to freeze a blanket. It is something a loving mother would teach any of her children if she recognized a need. Right? Well there it is. My many admissions about my past and a possible genetic link to a need for cold blankets.
On a side note, I also love a cold pillow and lots of warm heavy covers at the same time. Are there any others out there? I know there are, so let's unite and come clean...
WE LOVE COLD BLANKETS and/or PILLOWS!

That is so so funny! I think it must be genetic! Cold blanket! I love it. doesn't it just make you lover her all the more??
I must confess that I love a cool pillow and will turn it every which way if someone has warmed it up for me! I've never put It in the freezer, but that is a good idea, except that there is no room! But we adults here had a great laugh, what a sweet girl! It was nice hearing about another parent catering as mike did - except at our house it is usually us warming the blanket or shirt. Now what about the Trader's contraband?
Tommy likes to put his blankie over the heating vent- the exact opposite. But I thought everyone was like Tommy - I had no idea about you cold freaks! Does this happen even in wintertime?
That is so funny. I was laughing so hard. I never knew that about you. There is no question she is your! I love it :)
